This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) defines the categories of content and behavior that are strictly prohibited on UploadMe. This AUP supplements our Terms of Service and applies to all users, content, and activity on the platform. Violations may result in immediate account suspension, permanent termination, and referral to law enforcement.
The following categories - CSAM, non-consensual intimate imagery, and targeted harassment - carry zero-tolerance enforcement. There are no warnings, no appeals, and in the case of CSAM, mandatory reporting to law enforcement is required by federal law.
1. Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)
UploadMe is legally required under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A to report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline. Failure to report is a federal criminal offense.
The upload, storage, distribution, or possession of child sexual abuse material - including any visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct - is absolutely prohibited.
- Any content of this nature will be immediately removed and reported to NCMEC and appropriate law enforcement agencies without notice to the user.
- Accounts will be permanently terminated and all associated data preserved and provided to law enforcement.
- This applies equally to AI-generated, digitally altered, or “cartoon” depictions of minors in sexual situations, which are also illegal under federal law (PROTECT Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1466A).
If you encounter suspected CSAM, report it immediately to the NCMEC CyberTipline and through UploadMe’s in-platform reporting tool.
2. Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII)
Non-consensual intimate imagery (“revenge porn”) carries criminal penalties in 48 U.S. states and many countries worldwide. UploadMe will cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations.
The following are strictly prohibited:
- Intimate or sexually explicit images or videos of a real, identifiable person shared without that person’s explicit, ongoing consent.
- “Sextortion” - threatening to share intimate images unless demands are met.
- AI-generated or “deepfake” imagery that depicts a real person in a sexual or intimate context without their consent.
- Upskirt, voyeuristic, or hidden-camera imagery of any person in a private context.
Victims: If you are a victim of NCII posted to UploadMe, contact us immediately via our Support Portal with the subject line “URGENT - NCII Removal.” We treat these requests as highest priority and aim to respond within 24 hours. You may also contact the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative for additional support.
3. Harassment and Targeted Abuse
UploadMe prohibits content and behavior designed to intimidate, threaten, or cause distress to specific individuals or groups, including:
- Doxxing - posting personally identifiable information (home address, workplace, phone number, financial details) of an individual without their consent and with intent to harm.
- Targeted harassment campaigns - repeatedly uploading content designed to demean, humiliate, or threaten a specific individual.
- Credible threats of violence - any content expressing a genuine intent to commit violence against a person or group.
- Cyberstalking - using the platform to monitor or track an individual in a way that causes fear or distress.
- Impersonation - uploading content designed to impersonate another person in a misleading or harmful way.
Reports of harassment will be reviewed promptly. Accounts engaged in targeted harassment campaigns will be suspended or terminated.
4. Hate Speech and Incitement
Content that promotes, glorifies, or incites hatred or violence based on protected characteristics is prohibited. This includes:
- Content that dehumanizes individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or immigration status.
- Symbols, imagery, or language used by recognized hate groups to promote extremist ideologies.
- Content calling for or celebrating violence against any person or group of people based on the above characteristics.
- Holocaust denial, genocide promotion, or similar materials designed to legitimize mass atrocities.
Educational, journalistic, artistic, or counter-speech content that discusses hateful material in context is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
5. Additional Prohibited Content
The following content is also prohibited on UploadMe, in addition to the zero-tolerance categories above:
- Graphic violence and gore - depictions of extreme violence, mutilation, or death presented gratuitously with no educational, journalistic, or documentary purpose.
- Copyright infringement - uploading images you do not own or have rights to distribute. See our DMCA Policy.
- Malware and malicious files - files designed to exploit vulnerabilities, deceive users, or compromise system security.
- Privacy violations - images that violate an individual’s reasonable expectation of privacy (e.g., medical records, private communications, home interiors shared without consent).
- Disinformation designed to cause harm - intentionally misleading images (e.g., manipulated photos presented as factual) when the intent is to incite violence, defame, or endanger.
- Illegal content - any content that is prohibited under applicable local, national, or international law.
6. Enforcement
UploadMe may take any of the following actions in response to AUP violations:
- Immediate removal of violating content without notice.
- Temporary suspension of the offending account.
- Permanent termination of the offending account and all associated content.
- Preservation and disclosure of account information to law enforcement where legally required or permitted.
- Mandatory reporting to NCMEC (CSAM), law enforcement, or other authorities as required by law.
The severity of enforcement depends on the nature of the violation. Zero-tolerance categories (Sections 1–2) result in immediate permanent termination with no appeal. Other violations may result in warnings, content removal, or temporary suspension at our discretion.
We use automated content moderation tools (including Amazon Rekognition and OpenAI moderation) to help detect policy violations at upload and in comments. Automated decisions may be reviewed by staff upon appeal.
